How the annual calendar works
An annual calendar knows the difference between 30-day and 31-day months, so it needs only one correction a year, at the end of February. Patek Philippe launched the first annual calendar wristwatch, Ref. 5035, in 1996. The references now traded most widely include the 5205 and 5146, the 5396 with its moon phase and 24-hour display, and the 5960, which adds a flyback chronograph to the calendar.

Annual Calendar FAQs
How often does a Patek annual calendar need adjusting?
Once a year. A Patek Philippe Annual Calendar moves automatically through 30-day and 31-day months, but it cannot account for February. The date needs a single correction on 1 March each year, as long as the watch is kept running.
Which was the first annual calendar wristwatch?
Patek Philippe Ref. 5035, introduced in 1996, was the first wristwatch with an annual calendar. Its patented mechanism became the base for later Patek annual calendar references, including the 5205, 5396 and 5146.
How does a Patek annual calendar differ from an Omega annual calendar?
Both need one correction a year. Patek's annual calendars are in-house complications in gold or platinum, and some add moon phases or chronographs. Omega's appear in the De Ville and Seamaster lines. Goldbro lists both; see the Omega Annual Calendar collection.
Can I see a Patek Annual Calendar in Las Vegas?
Yes, by private appointment. Goldbro Timepieces sees clients in Las Vegas, NV, by arrangement. Call 702-964-5855 or contact Goldbro. Out-of-state buyers receive fully insured shipping.
